Milner at Manchester City Eyeing Premier League Title
“I’m here to win the title” said James Milner after having finally joined Manchester City following a drawn out switch worth £24 million. It is this and other recent City signings which caused Alex Ferguson to criticise City’s spending as “kamikaze”.
However, Manchester City’s boss Roberto Mancini has used the transfer of the players as a chance to hit back at Manchester United saying, "I think all the other teams have spent a lot of money in the past. I don't mean 15 years ago but in the last one, two or three years. It is not important for me (what Ferguson says). But I repeat that Manchester United, like Manchester City, have spent a lot of money in the past."
Milner did not join the team in time to go with them on their Europa League trip to Romania but he has his sights firmly set on the Premier League.
He said, "It didn't take too much selling by the boss when you see the players who are already here. The last thing he said to me was 'be ready to win the Premier League'. That's my ultimate aim - that's why I'm here."
