Real Madrid Seal Ozil in 15 Million Euro Deal
When many were sure that the young midfielder from Werder Bremen would make a name and home for himself at Old Trafford, it’s now definite that he will be joining German team mate Sami Khedira at the Bernabeu.
Alex Ferguson had indeed invested time in assessing Ozil, attending a Werder Bremen v Fulham friendly, but was beat out by Jose Mourinho who finally sealed the deal.
Initially Werder Bremen had turned down the first offer from the Spanish giants but the two clubs are reported to have reached a 15 million euro fee agreement for the standout playmaker.
Ozil is set to pass a medical today at the Santiago Bernabeu.
A statement directly from Madrid had this to say…
"Ozil lands at Real after a standout performance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
"His unique touch, unmatched technique, excellent ball control and deadly last pass make him one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in European football."
While Klaus Allofs, Bremen's director of sport commented: "We are respecting the player's wishes to take the next step in his career immediately."
