Mystery overseas buyer to bid for Liverpool FC
The Football League Chairman has revealed that his client has completed due diligence and is now ready to make a bid for the Reds. Harris has previously been involved in the sales of Aston Villa, West Ham and Manchester City.
Harris refused to name the bidder but he did say that it was not one of the groups who had previously declared their interest.
Harris said “The overseas buyer we represent has completed due diligence.” “A huge amount of work has been done.”
“It is none of the groups mentioned in the press. The ball is now in our client's court to make an offer.”
Harris claims that the bid may not be immediate and says it could be October before anything could happen. The current Liverpool FC owners, Americans Tom Hicks and George Gillett are due to make a payment on their 237 million pound loan to bankers RBS at this time.
“I do not think the deal will be done before the transfer window closes this month but the next pressure point is October when some of the RBS loan of £237million has to be repaid,” he said. “It may happen then. But in the present climate these things are impossible to predict.”
