Manchester United set to bid for Everton’s Rodwell
Manchester united are said to be interested in bidding for Everton teenage player Jack Rodwell. It was reported by The Sun newspaper that Alex Ferguson will be offering ten million pounds and his player Michael Carrick before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
It is known that Everton are keen to hold on to their Under021 star player, however, chances are high that they will find the deal too tempting to resist. Rodwell, who is only 19 years old, generally plays as a central midfielder, however, he can also player at centre-half which have caused some to compare him to Rio Ferdinand.
So far Manchester United have been hesitant over whether or not to bid for the player now or wait until he has another seasons experience behind him. However, the danger is that in a years time his price will have hugely increased and hence they may make the offer before this transfer period ends.
Rodwell has been at Goodison since he was seven years old and at 16 he became Everton’s youngest player and the youngest in Europe. He made his first appearance in the Premier League in March 2008 and also scored during last season’s 3 – 1 home win against Manchester United.
