Steven Gerrard Will Stay at Liverpool
30 year old Gerrard’s future was up in the air after the Reds failed to secure a place in the Champions League after finished the Premier League season in disappointing 7th last year.
In the interim, England’s skipper did attract a lot of attention from Real Madrid who were deterred in the end by Liverpool’s high asking price.
It’s no surprise that Roy Hodgson did not waste time in discussing the situation personally with Gerrard upon his return to training.
No doubt Hodgson’s words of encouragement were also buoyed by the club’s acquisition of Joe Cole. Cole’s arrival at Anfield is sure to add to the determination of the whole side and could prove to be a great source of strength for the captain who had the following to say…
"I wanted the chance to meet Roy privately and, having done so, I'm very impressed with his plans for the future….
I know Joe well through the England set-up so it will be fantastic to play alongside him in a red shirt for Liverpool...
I've only just returned to training at Melwood with some of the other World Cup players, but I can't wait for the new season to start."
