Manchester United Fans Await Signing of New Star
Money from the “Red Devil’s” sale of world famous, international football star Christiano Ronaldo last summer remains with Chief Executive David Gill and has not been spent on buying another big name.
The club spent £20 million earlier this year with signings from Chris Smalling, a previous Fulham defender and Mexican international forward Javier Hernandez.
David Gill, quoted in the Manchester Evening News, stated club manager Alex Ferguson does have money to spend, “The money is there if we believe there is a player who can improve what we believe is a very good squad.” Gill states, “The team has been together for a number of years and done very well. In order to improve it a player has to be of a very high calibre.”
However, disappointed supporters of the Old Trafford based club believe more money should be freed up to ensure the signing of a player of world class standards. Fans are said to be becoming irritated by the lack of a new footballing superstar at the premiership club.
United have been linked to a number of new signings with Karim Banzema, currently of Real Madrid, German international Mesut Ozil and Wesley Sneijder of Holland all looking likely to make the move to Manchester United ready for the start of the new season.
