Manchester United in bid for Germany’s Philipp Lahm
Philipp Lahm has had an excellent season at Bayern Munich and great success at the World Cup as Germany’s youngest ever captain, now it looks as if Manchester United are set to buy him.
It is rumoured that Manchester United are about to boost their defence with a bid to buy Germany’s World Cup captain Philipp Lahm.
Lahm at only 26 has become the youngest tournament captain in Germany’s history as he led the side to a third place finish. His excellent form followed a good season at Bayern Munich where he was essential in their return to the Champions League final.
Sir Alex Ferguson the manager of Manchester United is said to have been watching Lahm since the beginning of the year and has been hugely impressed by his form whilst defeating England in the quarter finals of the World Cup.
According to Castrol Football, Lahm was the fourth best player in the World Cup and the best non Spanish player.
It is rumoured that the Baundesliga champions have made a move for Ajax right back Gregory van der Wiel, this has prompted reports that they are going to lot the player go as he has only got two years left on his contract. There are also reports that the Portuguese player Fabio Coentrao will be moving to the Allianz Arena.
Gary Neville has one again been sidelined and it is understood that Ferguson is hoping to boost his options in the position. It looks as if Real Madrid are going to provide competition for the Premier League runners-up.
