Done Deal – Reds Secure Joe Cole for 4 Years

Joe Cole agrees news terms at Liverpool and looks set to settle at Merseyside for the next 4 years

After failing to agree new contractual terms at Chelsea at the close of last season, midfielder Joe Cole severed ties with the club and was on the free market.

Despite having been linked to quite a few Premier League sides – namely Arsenal and Tottenham, it has now been reported that Joe Cole is to undergo a medical at Merseyside within the next 48 hours. He has agreed personal terms and is set to join the Reds at Anfield.

Spurred on by new Red’s coach Roy Hodgson, the securing of the English international may also send the message to stay put to both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres – both having been issued a fortnights deadline to decide.

Joe Cole is the 2nd arrival to Liverpool this summer, the first being Milan Jovanovic from Serbia.

Cole will fill the shoes of Yossi Benayoun who signed with Chelsea earlier this month to the tune of £5.5million.

Roy Hodgson, on the lookout for fresh talent, will be looking for a new left-back to replace recently departed Fabio Aurelio and soon to depart Emiliano Insua, who is looking to close a move to Fiorentina.
