Lewis Hamilton to Light Up Singapore
SINGAPORE, After the two rounds that Lewis Hamiltonwould rather forget, he goes into this weekends night time SingaporeGrand Prix full of confidence that he can extend his lead in theoverall F1 Drivers Championship.
A controversial move at the Belgian GP in August, which couldyet determine the overall destination of the F1 Drivers Championship,saw the FIA determined that Hamilton had received an unfair advantageby cutting through a chicane. Hamilton claimed that that he cut throughthe chicane to avoid hitting Kimi.
Hamilton was given a 25 second penalty, which was upheld on appeal pushing him back into third place overall, handing first place to Ferrariвs Felipe Massa.
Two weeks ago at the Italian GP, Hamilton slid in the wet of qualifyingto start on the grid in only 15th position. He managed to recover to abetter final finishing position of 7th, but had left the driverschampionship very close indeed, with Hamilton on 78 points, just 1point ahead of Massa on 77.
This weekend sees a weekend of many firsts. The first F1 Grand Prix to be held in the nation state of Singapore and the first ever to be held under lights.The night time race will provide an amazing spectacle to live audiencesand will also allow the broadcast to be shown at convenient broadcasttimes in Europe.
Lewis Hamliton goes into this weekends race looking to reclaim someof the early season form that has seen him take the checkered flag fivetimes already this F1 season.
Ladbrokes have Lewis Hamilton at 11/8 to win the Singapore GP outright and he is at 4/6 to take the F1 Driver Championship.
Qualifying is on Saturday with the race on Sunday starting at 13:00 GMT.
