Women's Football Roundup

Katie Anderton was the star as Blackburn pulled off an FA Women's Cup shock with a 2-1 quarter-final win against 2006 runners-up Leeds United.

Defending champions Arsenal trounced Birmingham City 6-0 to reach the semi-finals.

Charlton Athletic beat Everton 1-0, the same score by which the Addicks beat the Toffees in the 2005 final.

The fourth tie between Bristol Academy and Liverpool was postponed and will now take place next Sunday.

The only Premier League match of the weekend, Chelsea's meeting with Sunderland, was also postponed.

Arsenal 6-0 Birmingham

Karen Carney's strike was sandwiched by a Jayne Ludlow brace as the Gunners went three goals ahead in the opening 26 minutes.

Katie Chapman stretched the lead mid-way through the second half then Lianne Sanderson, with her 26th and 27th goals of the season, completed the scoring.

Blackburn Rovers 2-1 Leeds United

Blackburn had to come from behind after former England midfielder Rachel McArthur had given Leeds a 20th-minute lead with a superbly struck long-range drive.

Katie Anderton headed the equaliser 10 minutes after the break then on the hour slid home what proved to be the winner.

Charlton Athletic 1-0 Everton

In a close-fought encounter on a difficult pitch which was water-logged in places, Charlton came out on top, despite finishing the game with 10 players.

The Addicks were lucky to go in all square at half-time after England Under-21 left winger Michelle Evans had struck their post just before the break.

But they edged ahead two minutes after the interval, Natasha Dowie sweeping in her 13th goal of the campaign from a low cross by strike partner Eni Aluko.

They then had to survive some anxious moments in the final 15 minutes of a tense tie after going down to 10 players.

All three of their substitutes had been used when they lost left back Eartha Pond, who was taken off with a knee injury - but the Addicks held on for a hard-earned win.
