Bradford Part Company With Manager Todd

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:54

Bradford City have parted company with manager Colin Todd.

Former Bolton, Derby and Middlesbrough boss Todd, 58, took over the reins at Valley Parade in June 2004, succeeding former England captain Bryan Robson.

First-team captain David Wetherall takes over as caretaker-manager while Bradford search for a new boss.

A statement on the club website said: "Unfortunately, results over the last 20 league games have been poor and so it is time for a change."

Bradford's 1-0 defeat Gillingham on Saturday proved to be the final nail in Todd's coffin.

The Bantams' website statement added: "Colin has had to deal with some very difficult situations but has always met these challenges in a professional manner."

Bradford had won just once in their last 10 games to slip dangerously down the table, just three points off the last relegation place.

After a fine playing career, former England international Todd cut his managerial teeth at Middlesbrough.

He lasted a year at Boro before joining Bolton, where he got the Trotters' promoted to the Premiership during his four years in charge.

A short spell at Swindon followed his departure from Boro, before he joined Derby, where he had excelled as a player.

Todd lasted just three months at Pride park before departing in January 2002.
