Bookies Happy With Henman Loss

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:38

Bookies William Hill were one of the few not cheering on Tim Henman in his second round match today after a huge gamble on the former British number 1 as he fought back from two sets down to level the match at 2-2. Henman was traded as short as 2/5 in running with bets of up to £15,000 on the former British number 1. "Tim was a six figure winner for us today but he gave us some very nervous moments when he fought back," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

William Hill now offer 9/4 that Henman makes it to the third round or better next year and 1/3 that he will not. With no British players in the third round Hills offer 2/1 that the same will occur in 2008 and offer 4/11 that at least one Brit makes the third round.
