How Wise Is Move For Dennis?
William Hill are offering odds of 5/1 that Leeds and Swindon will find themselves in the same division next season - with Leeds being relegated and Swindon promoted.
With the appointment of Wise - which will please the punters who backed him from as long as 7/1 to as short as 10/11 to get the job - William Hill now make Leeds 9/4 to be relegated; 13/8 to finish in the top half of the table (4/9 bottom half) and 20/1 to be promoted this season.
William Hill make Swindon 4/5 to be promoted.
"Wise was an early contender in the betting to replace Kevin Blackwell, then drifted steadily out in the betting, before being heavily backed at the very start of the week, eventually making the book a small loser for us." said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. "The biggest winner is the Lodnon client who staked £500 on him at 7/2 so is £1750 better off."
Wise's appointment had an immediate impact, with William Hill cutting the odds for Leeds to beat Southend in 90 minutes play in their Carling Cup game against Southend from 21/10 to 10/11.
William Hill offer 2/7 that Wise will still be Leeds' boss on the day of their first League match of the 2007/8 season, and 5/2 that he will not.
