Wembley Woes Continue
Bookmakers William Hill have cut the odds of Wembley not being ready in time for the 2007 FA Cup Final from 8/1 to 7/1 following further problems at the site.
William Hill have suspended the betting on which event will take place first at the stadium, for which the Community Shield (scheduled for August 6th, 2006) had been the 1/3 favourite with 8/1 offered for the stadium not to be ready before October 2006 - a price that was well backed earlier in the month.
For the worst case scenario, William Hill have also cut the price for the stadium failing to be ready for the start of the 2012 London Olympics from 100/1 to 50/1.
Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Wembley Stadium seems to be jinxed and we are taking no chances this time round and are offering just 7/1 for the Stadium not to be ready for the 2007 FA Cup Final. In fact we have taken a small wager on Wembley not being ready in time for the London Olympics in 2012 for which we are offering 50/1."
