The Sportsman Attracts Interest
Last updated: 13/03/2008 17:02
Reports of The Sportsman's demise may have been somewhat exagerated according to new reports which suggest the troubled newspaper has attracted interest from a number of potential buyers and may soon come out of administration.
A number of parties are thought to have contacted administrator UHY Hacker Young and expressed interest in the paper, including Irish investor and shareholder Dermot Desmond, who owns London City Airport and is the largest shareholder in Celtic FC.
A spokesperson for The Sportsman, which is owned by Sports Betting Media, said: "At this stage, there are lots of rumours going around ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. I'm not surprised to hear that there is interest as we still feel it is a good product."
