Sinking Sunderland

The imminent departure of Niall Quinn from the Sunderland manager's position looks certain to put a smile on the face of a number of punters who backed him with William Hill to be the first Championship manager to get the boot, for which he was offered at 11/4.
Sunderland are now 33/1 to win the Championship from 20/1, 8/1 to be promoted from 9/4 and are quoted at 10/1 from 16/1 to be relegated.
"Niall Quinn was seen by many as the saviour of Sunderland football club and they were hot favourites to be promoted straight back into the Premiership. The odds now suggest that they could struggle to stay in the Championship and can all but forget promotion", said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
