You Bet Wayne Won't Score This Weekend
oung Wayne, and remember he is still young, has not scored for 463 minutes in the Premiership and an away trip to Bolton this weekend is not exactly the best place to stop the clock on this barren run.
Cantor Spreadfair, the spread betting exchange, have a market titled 'Minutes till Rooney's next Goal' priced at 255 to 273 minutes with 90 minutes so far on the clock. Therefore that effectively means the market for him to score next is 165 - 173 minutes.
So how do you bet on this? Well spread betting gives you a price on a market and asks you if you want to go higher or lower than the price quoted. So if you think Rooney is going to score in the next 165 minutes you want to go low or 'sell' as it's called in the game. If you think he's going to continue to struggle to find the back of the net then you want to go high at 173 minutes or 'buy'.
To strike the bet you must decide how much money you want to put on per minute. So for example if you sell 'Minutes till Rooney's next Goal' at 165 for GBP1 per minute and he scores in the 65th minute against Bolton this weekend you will have been right by 100 minutes. At GBP1 a minute that's GBP100 profit. Similarly if he doesn't score for another game and 75 minutes (165 minutes) you start losing a GBP1 for every further minute he doesn't score. So if Rooney scored his next goal after 265 minutes and you elected to sell at 165 for GBP1 per minute you would lose GBP100.
Elsewhere you can look at Cantor Spreadfair's market on Wayne Rooney Season goals. He is currently priced at 15 - 16 goals for the season. Again if you think he's going to score more that 16 goals before the end of the year 'buy' and if you think less then 'sell'.
One thing is for certain, form is temporary, class is permanent. The question punters have to ask themselves is how long will this goal exile last for?
