Leominster Town 2 - Weston 0
Leominster Town's third League win in a row, beating Weston 2 - 0, hopefully shows that they have turned the corner. However the first half was a fairly even affair with both sides guilty of squandering chances. For Leominster Town FC, sponsored by CasinoTimes.co.uk, Steve Williams missed three good chances when the ball fell to him but on each occasion he blasted over the post.
At the other end Weston were unlucky when a free kick from Matt Roberts was finger tipped onto the bar by keeper Jon Jones. Town's defence was slow to react and Weston's Kevin Acton fired to ball back across goal for it to pass narrowly on the wrong side of the post.
Leominster Town took the lead on the half hour when Luke Jones stepped over the ball allowing it to run through to an unmarked Dylan Barrington who slotted home for a one-goal half time lead.
After a shaky restart Leominster Town eventually settled, upped their game and played the majority of the second period in the Weston half. Weston's defence absorbed the pressure but a triple substitution by Leominster gave the home side a new impetus and a fresh Dan George eventually forced the ball home after dispossessing his opponents in their penalty area. A finger-tip save by Ian Jenkins took the ball away from the feet of Richard Legdon as it seemed he only had to tap the ball into the net. Town squandered a number of further chances in the second half but never looked troubled as they ran out winners.
This Saturday Town are away at Bromyard Town Reserves.
Leominster Town Ladies 3 - Malvern Town Ladies 2
Leominster Town Ladies mimicked their male counterparts of the previous day by under performing in the first half of their game against Malvern Town Ladies and went in at half time a goal down.
However they much improved in the second half and eventually overcame their opponents to win 3 - 2 through another Katie Evans hat-trick. The defending and approach play that lead to the reversal represented a fine second half performance by the whole team and the pick of the goals was Katie's third which was a well struck free kick from way outside the penalty area.
This Sunday the Ladies entertain League leaders Droitwich Spa Ladies.
Leominster Girls 4 - Hinton Girls 3
Four goals by Larnie Williams, two in each half sent Leominster Girls through to the semi-final of the Girl's Cup as they beat Hinton Girls 4 - 3. Leominster were two up at half time but a fight back by Hinton nearly cancelled out the earlier hard work. Leominster's Jess Davies had a particularly good game being awarded her side's player of the match.
