Hiddink To Honour Russia Contract

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:53

Guus Hiddink has dismissed suggestions he could resign as manager of Russia and take over from Jose Mourinho at Chelsea at the end of the season.

Mourinho's future at Stamford Bridge has come under scrutiny this campaign and Dutchman Hiddink emerged as a possible front-runner to succeed him.

However, the 60-year-old, who is being investigated over alleged tax evasion, says the move does not interest him.

"I will be in charge of Russia until 2008," Hiddink said.

Hiddink has an impeccable track record with the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Holland, and is thought to have a close relationship with Chelsea chairman Roman Abramovich.

But he said: "I have definitely not spoken to Roman Abramovich about moving to Chelsea this summer. I am satisfied with my current job and very busy at the moment. I have other things to concentrate on. How do you think it would go down if I were to leave this job after a year and join Chelsea?"

Chelsea have denied drawing up a list of candidates to succeed Mourinho, insisting the manager has the "support of everybody" at the club.
