Bookies Fearing Further Frankie Bashing
Bookies William Hill have slashed the price of punters' favourite Frankie Dettori winning the BBC Sports Personality from 10/1 to 5/1 as punters invest some of their Derby winning on racing's most famous jockey to win one of sports' highest honours. Just a week ago Frankie was a 50/1 outsider but is now the second favourite behind Lewis Hamilton who is the 2/5 favourite.
"Frankie has already cost us millions with his Derby double and was the cause our blackest day when riding seven winners at Ascot ten years ago. It will be just our luck for Frankie to collar us again in December and if everyone who won money on Frankie votes for him, he will be a shoe-in and would cost us a further six figure sum," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
