Bookies Can't Split Five Horses And Go 12-1 The Field For Grand National
Bookmakers William Hill now go 12-1 the field for the Grand National after a number of impressive performances on both sides of the Irish Sea.
At Newcastle, Nil Desperandum impressed when winning the Eider Chase, and was immediately cut to 12-1 from 16 by William Hill.
At Fairyhouse Homer Wells 25-1 (from 33) put himself in the National frame with victory in the At The Races Bobby Jo Chase.
Numbersixvalverde made eye-catching late progress in the 3m 1f contest and was also trimmed into 12-1 (from 14) for the world's most famous Steeplechase.
William Hill's spokesman Ben Clarke added: "The Grand National is always an open race but this year it looks especially tough and we now have five joint favourites at 12-1. It's still quite a few weeks away and we have the Cheltenham festival to look forward to first but if the performances we have seen today are anything to go by this years race promises to be a vintage renewal."
