Rugby World Cup Odds Revised

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:37

Following their two hammerings by South Africa, England are quoted at 16/1 by William Hill to retain the Rugby Union World Cup.

But William Hills make them only sixth favourites to win the event for which New Zealand are now 2/5 favourites. They also offer 6/1 S Africa; 8/1 France; 11 Ireland; 14 Australia; 25 Wales; 50 Argentina; 150 Scotland.

"Given the weakened sides which all of the 6 Nations sides in action recently have been fielding, it is difficult to know how much to read into the results - however it is safe to see that we have seen no great rush to back any of the home nations for the World Cup in recent weeks." said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
