Open Book For Booker Prize

Sarah Waters is the favourite with bookmakers William Hill to win the Booker prize at 6/4, with a punter from Edinburgh standing to win £4,000 if she is successful. But William Hill feel that this years prize is the most open contest for years with all the short listed authors in with a real chance.

"Sarah is the best backed contender, courtesy of the fact that she is the best known, but we have not seen a massive gamble on any of the books, which suggests that this is one of the most open fields in years and we certainly have not written off any of the contenders." said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
