Wembley News Is Bad News For William Hill
The news that this year's FA Cup final has been moved to Cardiff's Millennium Stadium is bad news for bookmakers who have been betting on whether or not Wembley will be ready for a number of years.
William Hill, who despite closing their betting on whether the FA Cup Final will be played at Wembley or Cardiff on February the 8th stand to lose a considerable sum.
William Hill's final odds were 1/ 2 that it will be held in Cardiff and 6/4 that it would be held at Wembley.
"When building work began on the Stadium we believed the projections that the 2005/6 Cup Final would be played at the new Wembley and offered 1/6 that it would happen - but the shrewd punters were the ones who took the 7/2 that it would not", said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
"We have lost a few quid but it does not compare to how much it will cost Wembley."
