8/1 Becks Back As Skipper

Last updated: 13/03/2008 16:49

William Hill, who have seen David Beckham backed from 7/1 to 2/1 to start for England against Estonia, offer him at 8/1 to start that game as captain.

"McClaren might as well make him skipper if he brings him back as their fates will be inextricably intertwined. If he brings him back and England lose or draw, then they are both finished, but if he comes back and England win then McClaren won't be able to leave him out again for the whole qualifying campaign, and probably the finals themselves." said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.
