The 32nd day of the World Series of Poker witnessed a series of dramatic events with top names fighting for some important victories. Scott Montgomery made a particularly bold appearance and looks set to put in an impressive performance at the 2010 competition as a whole. Montgomery is expected to take event #47 – the all important $1,000 NL Holdem Special. Montgomery will have to fight off the remaining 33 players but looks set to do well after his recent powerful display. Other important names to watch are the chip leader, Manuel Davidian as well as Adam White.
Norwegian player, Sigurd Eskeland, meanwhile, was the talk of Event #48. The $2,500 Mixed Holdem Event saw Eskeland tackle the likes of Steve Sung, Scott Seiver, and Matt Vengrin at one of the tournament’s most competitive final tables. Eskeland was the only player to be awarded a bracelet on the 32nd day of the competition.
The tournament of Champions was also in full swing and saw the players reduced to the final 17. Johnny Chan put in a particularly compelling performance when he took on Scotty Nguyen and folded pocket Qs on a board of A,A,Q,J,J. Barry Greenstein, Bertrand Grospellier and Antonio Esfandiari will have a lot to prove as they are stuck behind short-stacks. Event #49 and #50 also kicked off on day 32. The latter saw Kevin Schafel secure a significant chip lead over Scotty Nguyen. A further 172 players will return to continue the fight on day 2 as one of the world’s most exciting gaming events plays host to the world’s most formidable poker play.
