Last woman standing in sponsorship trouble

This World Series of Poker should have held happy memories for Tiffany Michelle.  She made it to 17th place in the Main Event out of a starting field of over 6000 players from around the world.

She was the last woman in the tournament, quite an achievement, almost making it to the final table.

However, a shadow has now been cast over her achievement by PokerNews, who claim that she 'sabotaged' their exclusive sponsorship deal.

Poker players often do sponsorship deals when playing in big tournaments.  They wear shirts or hats displaying the logo of a poker room or website and receive money in return for the exposure.

Tiffany had such an agreement with PokerNews and wore their logo throughout the tournament.  However, in the later stages, she also did a deal with Ultimate Bet, and displayed their logo too.

PokerNews say this was in breach of their contract with Tiffany and are cooking up a storm about it. Tiffany, for her part, says that all players do multiple deals and can be seen wearing several logos at once.  She is understandably upset that her reputation has been cast in doubt, after giving such a great performance at the  WSOP.

As we wait for the final table to come around in November, many poker rooms will no doubt be competing to sponsor the 9 remaining players, who will get a lot of exposure over the coming months.
