Another online poker scandal
Another online poker scandal has been revealed, tarnishing the reputation of online poker sites and the remote gaming industry.
Following the Absolute Poker scandal last year, the latest site to get into hot water over online cheats is Ultimate Bet. Run and regulated by the Kahnawake reserve in Canada, Ultimate Bet discovered that several players had been tampereing with software in order to cheat the system. The players in question were former employees of the company, and discovered a software glitch that allowed them to see other players' hole cards. Using this method, they made millions of illegal dollars.
Ultimate Bet have promised to refund any players who were affected.
Six players and 18 usernames have been identified and permanently banned from the site.
All this does not look good for Kahnawake, involved in their second scandal in as many years. The Canadian government does not consider Kahnawake's 400 regulated gambling sites as legal and aims to close down their operations.
