Last 10 players compete for seat in Final Table Only 10 players are left in the World Series of Poker Main Event 2008. From a playing field of over 6000, entrants have been whittled down over 7 days of play to just 10. These numbers will be further reduced as players battle it out to be the last nine to sit at the final table in November. The final 10 will all be handsomely rewarded for surviving to the final stages, winning hundreds of thousands of dollars apiece. Those who make it to the final table will win even larger sums, in the millions of dollars. Phil Hellmuth was eliminated in 45th place, but not before having time to cause a little controversy and earn himself a penalty. Having shouted at another player, against the WSOP’s strict code, organizers gave Hellmuth a penalty, which would mean he would start play later than the others, putting him at a disadvantage. However, director of the tournament Jeffrey Pollack finally allowed Hellmuth to continue, issuing him a caution. Out of the remaining 27 players on Day 7, there was just one woman – Tiffany Michelle a 24 year old actress who has been playing poker for several years. The average chipstack going into Day 7 was just over $5 million. Seventeen players were eliminated on Day 7 including Tiffany, leave ten male players competing for the bracelet. Just one of them will be knocked out this week, while the remaining nine will meet again on November 9th at the final table. Remaining WSOP Main Event players are: Dennis Phillips – chipleader Dennis is from Illinois and won two events in the WSOP circuit. He has never cashed in a WSOP before.
