WPT Ladies Down To Final Games
The inaugural tour of the World Poker Tour Ladies tour is set to hit the Bellagio Resort and Casino for the final leg of the event.
The leg of this $1,500 tournament is expected to bring in hundreds of professional and amateur players trying to make it to that final table. These final games are going to be filmed as part of the WPT’s sixth season which has been airing on GSN at 9pm on Monday nights.
This part of the tour was designed to give the world’s female poker players a chance to show off their best game. The turnout so far has pleased WPT’s Executive Vice President. Close to 800 women have competed in the tour since it started this year, many of them engaging in their first ever live tournament. The whole group is very encouraged at the reception the first ladies’ event received and everyone is looking forward to sitting down at the Bellagio’s tables to play.
The WPT’s Ladies tour will kick off the final week of play on April 13th at a champagne brunch at the Bank Nightclub at 10am. The co-sponsored event will welcome all the ladies with a special pink carpet for registered players with champagne provided by Veuve Cliquot. Players will be given the chance to donate and bid in an online auction for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer research charity. This charity is the official charity of the WPT Ladies tournament as well as a longtime partner in the game.
According to Katrina McGhee, the vice president of marketing for the charity, the sponsoring of the tour and the online auction is one way people are able to support this important cause. All of the auction’s proceeds, expected to be in the thousands of dollars, will go to the charity.
Play begins at noon at the end of the brunch, and players that are left standing at the end of the day will come back on the 14th April to try their luck again. The final six players will return to the tables in the Bellagio’s poker room and in front of the WPT cameras to play until the last woman is left at the tables and crowned champion. Players wishing to enter the games can enter the $350 satellites on April 12 by registering at the Bellagio.
