Sheldon Adelson sponsors 40 wounded troops on Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, a group of wounded US soldiers, back from their service in Iraq, were treated to an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas.

Casino mogul Sheldon Adelson decided to invite the soldiers to his Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.  The 40 soldiers are all patients at the National Nabal Medical Center or the Washington Army Medical Center, where they are recovering from injuries received while on duty.

The group of soldiers wereflown in on a private jet and given VIP treatment on their casino trip, including penthouse suites in the Venetian hotel, meals, tickets to shows, and gambling chips.  They went backstage to meet the Blue Man Group and one lucky soldier even had his wedding paid for by Mr Adelson.

The injured soldiers appreciated the trip, as a time for relaxation and to get away from the confines of the hospital, as well a chance to forget their troubles and enjoy the entertainment.

Adelson is planning to extend the idea to invite more injured soldiers over the coming months in conjunction with the Armed Forced Foundation.  It's his way of saying thank you to the brave soldiers who serve their country.
