Hamilton celebrates career highlight Starting in third position on the grid, Lewis Hamilton raced through the wet streets of Monaco to win his 6th Grand Prix. Beating rivals Kimi Raikonnen – who last year pipped Hamilton to the championship title - Brazilian Felipe Massa, and Spanish former champion Fernando Alonso, Hamilton drove an exceptional race round the 76 laps, in difficult, rainy conditions. Monaco is one of the most difficult – and well-loved – races on the grand prix circuit. Rather than a specially designed track, the Monaco circuit winds its way through the town. Hamilton: “Life will never get better than this.”
Hamilton has always dreamed of winning the Monaco Grand Prix and described his victory as the highlight of his life. As he cracked open the champagne, the 23 year old racing driver said “Life will never get better than this.” Luck was on Hamilton’s side, as a pile-up on the track brought out the safety car, which allowed him to make up for time lost in pitstop for a puncture. Both Felipe Massa, who began in pole position, and Robert Kubica, who eventually came in second place, put in impressive performances. Last year, Lewis Hamilton did impressivelky well in his first year at Formula One and almost took the championship. This year, with a little more experience under his belt, and huge determination, he is surely a contender for the world championship. Document Actions |
