Eurovision Fun

The United Kingdom’s representative for this Eurovision song contest is Andy Abraham.  This congenial character sang his way to fame when he was a dustbin man.  His velvety smooth voice soothed the hearts of many who listened to his rendition of When I Fall In Love.  This is the song he chose to sing on X Factor 2005.  It was won by Shayne Ward.  However, this did not stop Abraham from forging ahead in his career.  Since being runner-up in the talent show he has released two albums, each one a big success. 

Andy Abraham sang at the Eurovision contest to a vast live as well as televised audience.  The former dustbin man is adamant that he is still the same ordinary individual ‘with his feet firmly on the ground’.  It is a fact that this ordinary individual does have a rather extraordinary ‘text buddy’ and her name is Sharon Osbourne.  Abraham and his wife Denise want to give their kids a normal life.  This may be a lot harder to do as he becomes more and more successful.  As it is, Abraham is constantly stopped and asked to sign autographs.  He is gracious in doing this.  He said that his son Jacob was also sometimes asked for an autograph. 

In spite of all this Andy and Denise did not take their kids to Serbia for the Eurovision contest.  Denise flew out to support her husband while the kids continued at school in the UK.   The forty three year old husband, father and performer found fame late in life.  However, it is obvious that he’s making the very most of what it has to offer him and his family. 

Andy Abraham performed second at the final.  Unfortunately, the UK came joint last with just 14 points.  Russia took first place.  Presenter Terry Wogan - in a break from his usual sarcastic commentary - was disappointed by what he considers to be bloc voting, with Eastern and Baltic states joining forces against Western European nations.  This is no longer a music contest, he said.
