Mojo awards honour Led Zeppelin and Nick Cave Duffy - who has never wanted to be famous - has done it again. Her song Mercy was voted ‘Song of the Year’. This was made official by Mojo magazine at their annual awards ceremony in the city of London. These awards are chosen according to the votes of the readers of Mojo. The reason given for the success of the song was ‘it is a timeless song’. This remark was made by the editor-in-chief of the magazine, Phil Alexander. The twenty three year old singer has managed to charm even the jaded media. She was seen as a ‘breath of fresh air’ when she ordered cakes for her breakfast during an interview. One sticky cake ended up on the floor and she picked it up and pushed the whole thing into her mouth. This was done rather gleefully. Her point of view was ‘who would know?’ She also made it known that she does not use hair or make-up stylists. Her image is her own and is really her. Well, the Mojo awards proved once again that it certainly works. At the awards other musicians were honored by the readers of Mojo. Some of the top awards were: Best Album – Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds Best Breakthrough Act – The Last Shadow Puppets Icon Award – The Sex Pistols Best Live Act – Led Zeppelin Classic Songwriter – Neil Diamond Lifetime Achievement - Genesis Maverick Award – Mark E Smith
