Bookies suspect leaked result for Goal of the Season

The BBC's Match of the Day is an institution, revered by millions of football fans across the nation.

The annual Goal of the Season competition is an occasion for many to place a bet on what they see as the best goal during the year.

However, bookmakers began tp suspect the result had been leaked when they took £10,000 on Emmanuel Adebayor's goal for Arsenal in just one afternoon. The odds dropped from 9-2 to 1-5.

Bookies Blue Square decided to suspend bets, after looking at the unusual betting trend.

The Goal of the Season is decided by the Match of the Day team, which includes former professional footballers Gary Linker, Alan Shearer and Alan Hansen.

The BBC have yet to repond.  They have however been in trouble for other rigged voting in recent months.
