Lewis Hamilton to Light Up Singapore

First Night GP In Singapore

SINGAPORE, After the two rounds that Lewis Hamilton would rather forget, he goes into this weekend’s night time Singapore Grand Prix full of confidence that he can extend his lead in the overall F1 Drivers Championship.

A controversial move at the Belgian GP in August, which could yet determine the overall destination of the F1 Drivers Championship, saw the FIA determined that Hamilton had received an unfair advantage by cutting through a chicane. Hamilton claimed that that he cut through the chicane to avoid hitting Kimi Räikkönen. Hamilton was given a 25 second penalty, which was upheld on appeal pushing him back into third place overall, handing first place to Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.

Two weeks ago at the Italian GP, Hamilton slid in the wet of qualifying to start on the grid in only 15th position. He managed to recover to a better final finishing position of 7th, but had left the drivers championship very close indeed, with Hamilton on 78 points, just 1 point ahead of Massa on 77.

This weekend sees a weekend of many firsts. The first F1 Grand Prix to be held in the nation state of Singapore and the first ever to be held under lights. The night time race will provide an amazing spectacle to live audiences and will also allow the broadcast to be shown at convenient broadcast times in Europe.

Lewis Hamliton goes into this weekend’s race looking to reclaim some of the early season form that has seen him take the checkered flag five times already this F1 season.

Ladbrokes have Lewis Hamilton at 11/8 to win the Singapore GP outright and he is at 4/6 to take the F1 Driver Championship.

Qualifying is on Saturday with the race on Sunday starting at 13:00 GMT.
