Cheryl and Ashley Cole finalise divorce
Cheryl Cole is finally free of her cheating husband Ashley. The stunning singer divorced the football star on Friday as their case was heard in the High Court.
The case, which was scheduled for 10am on Friday the3rd September was heard by Judge Christopher Simmonds and took only 60 seconds.
The singer and X Factor judge won a quickie divorce on the grounds of Ashley’s admitted “unreasonable behaviour” and that the marriage had “irretrievably broken down.”
Court papers revealed that Cheryl was asked if Ashley’s behaviour was continuing. To this she answered “Yes.”
The Judge said “Cheryl Cole cannot reasonably be expected to live with Ashley Cole.”
The Chelsea and England defender has continued to score off the football field. He has reportedly had a fling with lap dancer, Sarah Purnell since he and Cheryl separated in February.
Cheryl, who is currently in the US, and Ashley were not present for the London hearing when District Judge Simmonds finalised their divorce.
Ashley was in the England side that played Bulgaria in a Euro 2012 qualifier at Wembley Stadium on Friday night.
The end of the marriage at the High Court's Family Division was very different from the couple's lavish country house wedding in 2006.
The couple now has a six week cooling off period before a decree absolute is granted.
Cheryl has previously said that she did not want money from Ashley. She will however make around 4.5 million pounds from the sale of their Surrey mansion and any shared assets. Ashley will also need to pay the 1500 pounds for the court costs in their divorce.
Ashley’s cheating was uncovered in January 2008 when it emerged that he had been having an affair with hairdresser Aimee Walton.
Neither party would comment on Friday’s divorce.
