Lindsay Lohan released from jail after only 13 days
Despite being sentenced to 90 days, Lindsay Lohan has been released after serving less than two weeks of her sentence.
After serving less than two weeks of her ninety day sentence, Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail. She began her sentence at an all-female jail in Los Angeles on July 20th after she violated her probation on a drunk-driving charge she received in 2007.
According to entertainment website E! Online she was released in the early hours of Monday morning. She is now due to start a 90 day rehab programme immediately.
It does not come as a great surprise that Lohan was released early, inmates who are serving for non violent crimes normally have their sentence reduced for good behaviour and because the prisons are overcrowded. In 2007 Lohan served just 84 minutes of a sentence at the same prison.
Since she pleaded guilty to misdemeanour drug charges and no contest to three driving charges in August 2007 the actress has been on probation. Part of the conditions was that she attend and complete a series of alcohol education courses, however, she failed to do them on time and missed a number of meetings.
Last May she was fitted with an alcohol monitoring bracelet after she failed to attend a probation hearing because she claims she was stuck in France. According to her lawyers she was unable to travel back from the Cannes Film Festival due to her passport being stolen.
Lohan’s time in prison has delayed several film projects, including her role in as Lindo Lovelace in a biopic about the 1970s porn star. Lohan has not had a major film role since 2007’s ‘I know who killed me’.
