A German octopus named Paul has been successfully predicting the winners of several World Cup matches and has become the star of the 2010 contest.
An octopus named Paul has become the surprise star of this year’s FIFA World Cup after successfully predicting the outcome of several matches of the tournament. Paul, who lives in an aquarium based in Germany’s Oberhausen, has been shocking football fans across the world with his apparent psychic abilities. The phenomenal accuracy of Paul’s predictions has shot the octopus to international fame and made him a true icon of the game and the 2010 contest.
The prophetic Paul is presented with two portions of mussels representing the competing teams. He communicates the winner by eating a mussel marked with the victorious country.
