Bet A Rotter Will Pot Potter
Now the title of the final Harry Potter book has been unveiled, fans have switched their attention to the biggest question of all. Who will kill Harry Potter?
Bookies William Hill have been betting on the culprit for three months and can reveal that punters are keen to back both Voldermort and Harry himself.
William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams said: "JK Rowling mentioned that Harry might be killed off and the general consensus seems to be that Harry is the final Horcrux and to ensure that Voldermort dies he will need to be sacrificed. Most of the early money has been for Harry who has been cut from 10/1 to 6/1 and Voldermort remains the odds on favourite."
Who Shot JR?
The first time William Hill opened a book on a whodunnit was in the 1970's when they bet on, 'Who shot JR.'
At the time, over 25 million people were watching Dallas and when arch villain JR Ewing got shot in the last episode of the series it became a subject of national debate. It proved so popular that it actually took more money than horse racing in the last few days of betting.
"Who shot JR was the first ever reality TV betting and remains by far the biggest in real terms - it was like Grand National day." said William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
If Harry Potter survives, all bets will be void and stake money will be returned.
Other potty Harry Potter Punts William Hill have accepted include:
Ron and Hermione To Marry with Harry As Best Man - 8/1
Ron and Hermione to have a child - 16/1
and then name him Harry! - 25/1
Ron to cause the demise of Draco Malfroy in a duel - 20/1
Harry Potter to catch the snitch in a Quidditch world cup - 33/1
