Interactive Gaming Council Appoints Canadian Lawyer as New Chief Executive
The Interactive Gaming Council announces the appointment of John Kennedy FitzGerald, a respected lawyer and industry veteran, as its Chief Executive.
FitzGerald, a lawyer in private practice in Toronto, served on the board of the IGC during his term as General Counsel of CryptoLogic Inc., a leading i-gaming software provider listed on the TSX, NASDAQ and London Stock Exchange. Subsequent to his tenure with CryptoLogic, FitzGerald worked as a legal consultant and strategic advisor to some of the industry's largest and most reputable interactive gaming companies.
"John FitzGerald is one of the interactive gaming industry's leading lights, and he has a track record of turning competitors into collaborators," said John Anderson, Chairman of the Board of the IGC. "As the Interactive Gaming Council's new Chief Executive, John will be an outstanding leader for our industry as we enter a new phase in our global growth."
As Chief Executive, Fitzgerald succeeds Rick Smith, who led the organization for more than seven years. Anderson thanked Smith for his long and dedicated service.
"It's an honour to take on this key role at the Interactive Gaming Council, both to represent our members and to spearhead industry-wide initiatives that benefit consumers around the world," FitzGerald said. "Together, we can accelerate efforts to promote responsible gaming, codify operator best practices and at the same time work alongside technology partners that will provide our membership with the tools to ensure a safe, secure environment for players everywhere."
