Caesars Want To Do It The Wembley Way
Caesars Entertainment, the US operator of five casinos in Las Vegas, wants to open the UK's largest and most lavish gambling destination alongside the new Wembley stadium in north London.
Bosses of the famous Caesars Palace have taken something of a back seat as far an announcements on plans for the liberalised regime go, but are now reportedly in talks with Quintain Estates, the developer that owns the 42 acres surrounding the new National Stadium at Wembley.
In its first move into Europe, the US operator will build Caesars Wembley, on 13 acres, comprising a world-class casino, a 400 room luxury hotel, an elegant spa and swimming pool, convention and meeting facilities, a wide variety of exciting restaurants, bars and lounges and 9,000 square feet of designer retail outlets. The casino will be 75,000 square feet accommodating 135 gaming tables and 1,250 slot machines.
"Wembley promises to become one of Europe's top new leisure destinations," said Caesars Entertainment president and chief executive officer Wallace Barr. "With that in mind, Wembley is a natural location for our first European casino project. Like Caesars, Wembley is a name known around the world and is synonymous with the best in entertainment," Barr added.
The joint venture launches the next stage of Quintain's plans for the revitalisation of Wembley, which when completed is expected to draw millions of visitors a year from London and its surrounding areas, as well as the rest of the UK and overseas.
It will also include the redeveloped Wembley Arena - a major music and entertainment venue soon to undergo a design overhaul; designer shopping outlets; a dedicated sports mall; a nightclub and the largest cinema multiplex ever built in the UK.
