Ladbrokes Revises Hollywood Oscar Odds
Money continues to pour in for the favorites ahead of Sunday night's academy awards, according to the famed London based oddsmakers, Ladbrokes.
And globally punters appear unwilling to look beyond the front runners. George Clooney, nominated for best supporting actor, is the only non-favorite to attract major interest.
As a result bookies have shortened Clooney from 5/2 to 7/4 in the best supporting actor category, with favorite Paul Giamatti, eased from 4/6 to 5/6.
Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "If the weight of money's anything to go by the favorites should emerge with the awards. But this is Hollywood and they love an against-the-odds story. A few shocks wouldn't surprise me."
Philip Seymour Hoffman and Reese Witherspoon are the hot favorites to land the respective best actor and best actress gongs. Hoffman can be backed at 1/7, with Witherspoon available at 2/9.
