Punters Rush To Back Gordon's Election Tip
With Gordon Brown hinting that he is planning to call the next general Election in 2009, William Hill have cut the odds about him doing so from 11/10 to 5/6. Brown corrected himself after actually saying that the next Election would be in 2009, claiming that it was a slip of the tongue. "Punters have taken notice of the tip straight from the next PM's mouth and rushed in to bet that 2009 will indeed be General Election year" said William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. "Its just as well he didn't tip Frankie Dettori for the Derby at the same time!"
William Hills make 2009 5/6 favourite and also offer 6/4 2010; 6/1 2008; 14/1 2007.
But Labour are still only second favourites to win the next General Election with William Hill who quote them at 6/5 to be the largest Party, with the Conservatives 8/13 favourites and the Lib Dems 80/1. William Hill also offer 5/6 that there will be a Hung Parliament; 5/6 that there will not.
