Konnie is a Ten

The days of Konnie Huq having to slice open an octopus are over. This was how her fellow presenters chose to see her off the show. The prank took place at Billingsgate fish market. Konnie Huq is the presenter who stayed with the Blue Peter show for ten years. Her long years of service were acknowledged by Gordon Brown in a pre-recorded message. 

Konnie said being a Blue Peter presenter is the best job in the world. She had joined the show straight out of uni when she was twenty two years old. Now, at the age of thirty two she is taking a well deserved break. Huq stated the time spent with the show had flown by. There will be a tribute paid to Konnie on BBC One this Wednesday at 17h00. 

Amy Cracked 

Chilling footage of Amy Winehouse on a drugs binge surfaced on the website of The Sun. Her many devoted fans are hoping Amy will quit crack. In fact, her fans are begging Amy to stop drugging. In the video she says she took six valium. In nineteen minutes, according to The Sun, Amy Winehouse indulged in hit after hit. She even managed to snort powdered cocaine and ecstasy between hits of crack. 

In the video, the singer’s wedding photo can be seen in the background. Her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is awaiting trial. He has been charged with assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Apparently, Winehouse had attended his court hearing just hours before the telling video was taken. The time and date is in the corner of the video taken at 0500 on Friday. 

Amy Winehouse is a great British talent. She has earned six Grammy nominations. The singer is regarded by many as the epitome of the tortured artist. However, according to her online fans they fear she has gone too far. They want Amy to seek help. Last year the singer suddenly left her British tour and was hospitalized. A drugs binge was thought to be the reason. Amy is facing charges of marijuana possession in Norway. 

Oscar and Keira

There will be no Oscar for Keira Knightley this time around. Her name was conspicuous in its absence as the nominees for the forthcoming Oscars were read out today. It has been noticed that sombre dramas always seem to hit the spot with the Academy voters. Knightley’s Atonement leading man, James MacAvoy is also not going to the Oscars. However, both of these actors have been nominated for Bafta awards, the British award ceremony. 

The thirteen year old Saoirse Ronan, who plays Keira’s young sister in Atonement, has been nominated for an Oscar. Her role in the film has given her a chance at best supporting actress. Saoirse is currently filming The Lovely Bones on location in New Zealand. The charming young UK star has also been nominated for a Bafta award. When told about the Oscar nomination Saoirse made it clear that she’s ‘over the moon’ and thinks it is ‘brilliant’. She is looking forward to going to the Oscars.
