Brighton Hotel Casino Bid Set For Approval
Last updated: 13/03/2008 17:08
Plans for a casino at a Brighton hotel have been recommended for approval.
About 120 jobs would be created if the plans go ahead at the Hilton Metropole, but residents have objected to potential noise and transport problems.
Committee papers also refer to Sussex Police concerns that a casino would increase crime in a high-risk area.
But city council officers have said the casino would operate without undue disturbance and contribute to continued viability of the hotel and city centre.
Members were due to consider the plans by Ladbrokes at a meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
