Apple press conference does little to reassure online gamblers

Fans of online gambling were looking forward to the release of the iPhone 4, there were high hopes that the new device would provide an easy way to play their favourite casino games on the go. However, the phone’s release has been plagued by reports of problems with the antenna which has caused major reception problems. 

Online gamblers will not be pleased with receptions problems, bettors will need to know that once they are in a poker room there is no chance of them missing hands because of reception problems with the phone as this could prove to be very costly for them. 

Last Friday, Apple held a press conference in which Steve Jobs was expected to provide some more details about the antenna problem. However, despite the fact that Jobs was at the front of the news conference, there was no explanation given for the problem, nor did they provide an expected time frame in which the problem would be addressed. Jobs simply explained that lots of mobile problems have reception problems and that it is simply a result of the inexact science involved in making the devices. 

All that Apple offered were free rubber cases to hold the phones which were having problems. This means that whilst the reception issues are not fixed, the cases could be useful whilst trying to play games online. 

One online gambler who identified himself as Marty said, "At least now when I throw the phone across the room because I missed a hand of poker, the phone won't break. But in all seriousness, I wish Apple would have come up with a better solution to this problem than this." 

Marty was not the only person to report this attitude and all Jobs did was to offer a refund on the cases to those who have already bought them.
