Slots Double In The UK

Players of slots in the UK are now going to be able to bet larger amounts and also win more on slots machines now that the government has eased gaming rules.

Players are now able to win up to £70 (doubled from £35) and additionally the maximum stake will increase to £1 (from 50p).  These increases are a move on behalf of the government to stimulate the struggling slot machine segment of the gaming industry.

It will affect fruit machines in pubs and clubs within the UK. The changes were made to assist the ailing industry as a consequence of the government making a more concerted effort to produce a  positive outcome in profits for pubs and clubs. The introduction of the 2007 Gambling Laws saw slot machines revenue fall dramatically, with many establishments being forced to close.  

UK Culture Secretary, Andy Burnham has supported the new rules acknowledging it will bring a much needed boost in assisting pubs and clubs stay financially secure in tough economic times.

It is expected that this change will bring in and extra 20% revenue for the industry, which in turn will reap an additional £27 million for the government. The new limits will be brought in immediately, with all machines to be updated.

The move has been applauded by operators of slots in UK’s pubs and clubs as a vital move to turn around a struggling industry.
