Online Gaming Websites Gaining Ground

MANY corners of the globe are currently undergoing a financial crisis. Economical strain has brought an end to many industries. Of the ones that were able to survive, there has been a constant struggle for business to stay afloat. In this difficult financial time there is one industry that has been able to survive and even thrive to some extent. That is the gaming industry.

As the financial strain begins to tighten in other aspects of life, players start to look for an outlet. That outlet is the stress relief needed to deal with the pressures of life. Gaming industries have provided that outlet. It gives players a chance to escape the hassles of life and the financial strain even if only for a short period of time.

For a long period of time, it was the traditional brick and mortar casinos that produced the most business. Online gaming websites scored a close second in terms of revenue to their traditional counterparts. Recent studies have indicated that this could soon be changing. It appears that the online gaming industry is gaining ground on the traditional casinos. In some cases the online gaming websites are starting to pull ahead.

Industry analysts expect the online gaming industry to significantly pull ahead of the traditional brick and mortar casinos by 2012. Throughout the last several years, online gaming has steadily increased up to as much as 4.8% each year. The traditional casinos meanwhile have only seen a 2.2% increase across that same time period. Online casinos are expected to reach a financial market volume of $24.4 billion by 2012.

One reason for this jump in financial leadership is the surge in online gaming popularity. Many players who frequent traditional brick and mortar casinos are learning about the convenience factors present with online gaming. There is no parking or traffic hassles that are often present with traditional brick and mortar casinos. Another convenience factor is the ease in switching between casinos. Online players can visit several casinos in a short period of time. This greatly expands playing options and increases the entertainment factor that brings players to the internet in the first place.

During a five year projection period, online gaming showed significant increase in many areas. Online poker and casino revenue figures will increase by 16% and 15% respectively. In this same time period, online sports increased by 11% as well. Other areas of online gaming such as lottery, slot machines and sports betting also show signs of continually increasing as well.
