Natasha Kaplinsky to leave Million Pound Salary
Natasha Kaplinsky is the brainy newsreader who viewers seem to love best. The presenter who has an Oxford degree is believed to be the highest paid newsreader in the UK. It was her good fortune when Five decided she was the one they wanted. However, Kaplinsky was in the employ of the BBC at the time. Five struck a deal with her for one million pounds a year. Kaplinsky made a point of stating that the move had not been for the money. She said Five was prepared to give her opportunities that the BBC was not.
To the delight of Five, their ratings skyrocketed as soon as Natasha Kaplinsky made her debut on channel 5. But just six weeks into her stint as the biggest earning newsreader she informed Five that she was pregnant. According to Kaplinsky she had not been aware of the pregnancy at the time she signed the contract to make the move from BBC. Kaplinsky is married to Justin Bower. He is in investment banking. The two knew each other for just three months when they married.
Five have confirmed that Kaplinsky will not be getting any maternity benefits. The reason is because she is hired as a freelancer. Like any other freelancer she is only paid for time that is spent at work. If she had been taken on as a member of staff she would have benefited by getting ninety percent of twenty thousand pounds. £20,000 is believed to be how much Kaplinsky earns in one week.
Her friends have all said that Natasha Kaplinsky did not know she was pregnant when she signed with Five. She will be taking maternity leave from September but it is not known for how long. Five will have to find a presenter to take Kaplinsky’s place. She is so popular with viewers that it will not be easy to fill her place. In the meantime, Kaplinsky has been spotted looking healthy and well. Her baby bump is noticeable and she is wearing comfortable maternity wear. She is also looking very content with her lot.
